KoKo Aung, MD, MPH, CPH, FACP

 

 

KoKo Aung, MD, MPH, CPH, FACP, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Epidemiology at the University of Texas School of Public Health. He was a faculty member at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Baylor College of Medicine before joining the faculty of the University of Texas. In addition to his medical degree, he also received a master of public health degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internal medicine residency at Temple University/St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he served as the Chief Medical Resident. He is board-certified and re-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and board-certified by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.   He received formal training on the conduct of systematic reviews and meta-analysis at Tufts University School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, and the U.S. Cochrane Center. He also received training on outcome research at Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Aung’s areas of expertise and interest are evidence synthesis, comparative and effectiveness research and health outcome research.  He conducts and publishes systematic reviews and meta-analyses. He teaches evidence synthesis, meta-analysis and systematic reviews in MPH program, Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) Program, Clinical Safety and Effectiveness Training Program, and the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM). He also serves as the Course Director of Informatics and Advanced Evidence-based Medicine. He has delivered numerous presentations on evidence synthesis and quality of health care.  Dr. Aung is a member of Cochrane Collaboration, an international not-for-profit organization, providing up-to-date information about the effects of health care. He is also a member of UpToDate SGIM review board.
