Title: Improving prostate biopsy efficiency: The finasteride challenge test

Status: Active

Period: 07/2010 - 06/2015

Role: Co-Investigator

Grant Detail: Study objective is to determine if a five alpha reductase challenge improves upon the performance of serum prostate specific antigen (PSA), Prostate cancer gene 3 (PCA3), ETS gene fusion, markers of gene methylation, digital rectal examination (DRE), and other measures of prostate cancer risk in men who are scheduled for prostate biopsy. Our hypothesis is that the rate and magnitude of the fall of serum PSA will be greater among men without prostate cancer than among those men who are ultimately found to have prostate cancer.
