    Mentored Teaching Award (MTA)

    Application Instructions

    Application Timeline: Fall 2013 MTA applications are due July 23, 2014

    Applications Submission: The MTA submission should be submitted to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (opa@uthscsa.edu) as a single pdf document (11 pt Arial font) in the following order:

       Face Page MTA Face Page Form (.5" margin)
       Biosketch MTA Biosketch Form (.5" margin)
       Recent sample of applicant's academic writing e.g., manuscript, book chapter)
       Description of applicant’s current academic research activities (1 pg limit, 1" margin)
       Statement of applicant’s teaching philosophy (1 pg limit, 1" margin)

    Letters of Recommendation: Three (3) letters of recommendation should be sent to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs by email attachment (must be sent directly from recommender email) or by hard copy through the US Postal Service, campus email, or hand delivered to Angela Eide, OPA Academic Programs Coordinator, 108 AAB. Letters must be received by the application due date.

       The letter of recommendation from the Primary Research Mentor should include:
        ‣  The applicant's background and potential
        ‣  An explicit statement of support for the trainee's career development in teaching
        ‣  Agreement to awards terms (i.e, 1 day/wk for 1 semester)

       Another letter of recommendation from a qualified reference should address:
        ‣  The relationship with the applicant
        ‣  The applicant's teaching/mentoring capability
        ‣  The applicant's pedagogical skills and potential

       An additional letter of recommendation addressing:
        ‣  The relationship with the applicant
        ‣  The applicant's background and potential
