Mission

The mission of the Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) is to enhance the University’s contribution to the health of our society by moving scientific knowledge obtained by our research teams in collaboration with other institutions into clinical practice. The office will accomplish this mission by assisting individual faculty members in their research endeavors, promoting interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research, providing administrative support to the institution’s research activities, and promoting the commercialization of our research teams’ discoveries.

Focus

The focus of the Office of the VPR includes

  • Advocating for science and research at the Health Science Center and beyond
  • Promoting interdisciplinary research across the Health Science Center

  • Leveraging federal, state, industrial, and philanthropic funds for the institutions overall research activities

  • Providing academic and administrative leadership in the conduct of research at the Health Science Center

  • Fostering, supporting, and sustaining a collaborative environment amongst our stakeholders that facilitates the highest quality scholarship and research

  • Monitoring ethical and regulatory compliance of Health Science Center research
