Emergency Procedures
         
  IN THE LABORATORY   IN THE CORRIDOR  
IN ANY OTHER AREAS
 

 

1. Leave the laboratory.

2. Close the door.

3. Call the Safety Office (X2955) from the nearest phone.

4. Report:

  1. Agent
  2. Room Number
  3. Possible Exposures

DO NOT SPREAD CONTAMINATION:

  1. Leave clothing that may have been contaminated in the lab.
  2. Do not touch the phone with possibly contaminated hands.
  3. Have someone else call.
  4. Wash with soap and water affected body parts.
  5. Assure, if possible, no entry into the lab until Safety Office has permitted entry.



 

If air-borne contamination is possible:

1. Pull the nearest Fire Alarm Pull Station.

2. Have someone call the Safety Office (X2955).

3. Report Agent, Location, Contact Person, Possible Exposure.

4. Evacuate to the Nearest Area in which the alarms are not sounding.

5. Do not return until Safety Office has cleared the area.

If air-borne contamination is not likely:

1. Call the Safety Office (X2955).

2. Report Agent, Location, Contact Person, Possible Exposure.

3. Prevent spread of contamination.

 

1. Alert people in area. Clear area of people.

2. Call Safety Office (72955 working hours - 72800 after hours).

3. Give all particulars (identity of agent, location, etc.).

4. Try to contain spill with absorbent dikes, etc.

5. Do not reenter area except by permission of Safety Office.
