Radiation Safety Division - Basic MRI Safety Course

TRAINING COURSE SCHEDULE Instructors: Robert Moreno, RII Safety Manager, or Jennifer Cerecero, Radiation Safety Officer, Environmental Health & Safety


This is a one hour course designed specifically for UT Health Science Center at San Antonio personnel working around or with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment who have not received documented MRI safety training previously. This includes all persons working around MRI machines, i.e., faculty, staff, students, and volunteers. Persons may provide a copy of a certificate or letter of completion for a course in MRI safety from another institution or successfully complete this course.


The course is designed to cover fundamental properties of the MRI machine, general safety practices around the machine, effects of the magnetic fields on patients and employees, and all other safety precautions to take when working around or with the MRI machine.


The MRI Safety Module is now available online in the Knowledge Center

If you are  UHS Employee or a UT Employee without access to the Knowledge Center, you may attend an in-person training session.  The training schedule for in-person training is outlined in the table below:
