Summary: This course provides the student with a conceptual understanding of the radiation protection principles involved in the research, diagnostic, and therapeutic uses of radiation sources. This course will cover the safe receipt, use, storage, and disposal of radiation sources in the medical and research settings.

 

Successful participants will earn three UTHSCSA safety certificates of completion:

1. Radiation safety;
2. Laser safety; and
3. Laboratory safety.

 

Grading:

• Midterm examination (40%)
• Final Examination (40%)
• Student Interaction/Participation (20%)
