Responsible Research

At the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, researchers are held to the highest standards of ethical conduct in their research. While methods vary in each discipline all Health Science Center researchers are expected to keep the following values identified by the Office of Research Integrity in mind as they design and perform research:

  • HONESTY — conveying information truthfully and honoring commitments
  • ACCURACY— reporting findings precisely and taking care to avoid errors
  • EFFICIENCY— using resources wisely and avoiding waste
  • OBJECTIVITY— letting the facts speak for themselves and avoiding improper bias.

The Office of the Vice President for research is committed to these values and provides tools and information to guide The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio research enterprise with these values in mind.
