    Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies
    Deadline: March 3, 2008
    The Barshop Institute is seeking pilot grant proposals in gerontology from UTHSCSA, UTSA, and SFBR faculty. Funds are available for research on basic biological gerontology through The Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in Basic Biology of Aging. Preferential consideration will be given to:
    Junior faculty in the beginning of their research careers
    Established investigators who are new to gerontology/geriatrics

    Borderplex Council Diabetes/Obesity Research Enhancement Fund
    Deadlines: 5:00 pm CT, the 7th day of February, May and October
    The mission of the Council is to facilitate and promote multi-institutional collaboration in education and research for addressing the health challenges of the border region. To achieve this mission, the Council will work collaboratively with the other UT institutions along the border, including the UTHSCSA Laredo Extension Campus, The University of Texas-El Paso and the UTHSCH School of Public Health Campus in El Paso.

    Cancer Development and Progression Pilot Grant Program
    Deadline: 11:59pm CT, Monday, June 2, 2008
    Members of the Cancer Development and Progression Program are invited to submit applications for pilot grant funding. The purpose of this funding mechanism is to support collaborative research among members that has the potential for attracting extramural (especially NCI) funding. The proposed research must be a new collaborative project amongst two or more Cancer Center investigators; at least one researcher must be a primary member of the CDP Program. The applications must be responsive to the objectives of one of the four themes identified in the announcement.
     
    Presidential Research Enhancement Fund (PREF)
    Deadline: 11:59 pm, the last working day of every month
    This is a grant program aimed at stimulating multi-investigator interactions by enhancing opportunities to acquire extramural, peer-reviewed research funding, such as, but not limited to, NIH program projects and center grants. Proposals must be submitted by groups of at least three investigators all holding the rank of Assistant Professor or above.
     
    Scholarship of Teaching Grants: Previously listed as ITG
    Deadlines: May 1, 2007
    The Innovative Teaching Grants (ITG) Program provides start-up grants to support faculty efforts to develop, implement and evaluate innovative educational techniques for their students.     University Research Council Grants Program
    Deadlines: 11:59 pm on the 15th of January, May, and September
    Deadline days that fall on a weekend or holiday, will be moved to the next official business day. Funding available through the University Research Council (URC).

    VPR Bridge Funding
    Deadlines: Monthly on the 5th
    Deadline days that fall on a weekend or holiday, will be moved to the next official business day
    . VPR Bridge Funding is intended to provide temporary support for ongoing NIH research projects that are likely to be funded upon submission of a renewal application.
