UTHSCSA Username and Password Troubleshooting Tips

If you do not know your UTHSCSA domain user name and password…

Here are three possible solutions:
1. You already have a domain username and password that you use regularly to login to the campus. In some circumstances, but not all, this is exactly what you need for the Time and Effort System and the Grants Management proposal upload system.

2. You may already have a domain username and password, but have lost track of the password. If so, the password simply needs to be reset. Have your departmental TSR (Technical Services Representative) call Triage to reset your password.

3. You did not previously have a UTHSCSA Domain username and password, and were required to submit an effort report for the certification period ending 8/31/00 or later. You have been automatically assigned a username and password by Computing Resources. The new account notices are delivered via campus mail to the departmental ACEs who should distribute the account notification letters and instructions to the affected users.

Note: Please update your new password before attempting to login to the Effort System or the Grant Upload System. Instructions on updating and changing your UTHSCSA password can be found at

Below is a snapshot of the screen used to change your password. Please note that the entry in the Account line is your UTHSCSA username.

Depending on whether you are accessing the system from off-campus, which web browser software you are using, and the version number of your web browser, the process of logging in to your report can be slightly different. In some instances Netscape or earlier versions of Explorer require that you insert the domain name "UTHSCSA\" in front of your user name when logging in to the system. Here are examples of the differences you may see in the logon screen depending on the PC you are using to access the system.

To be on the safe side, whenever the login screen gives you only two entry boxes without a field for the domain name, you should prefix your username with "UTHSCSA\"
