Application Procedure for Texas Controlled Substance Registration

 

  1. APPLY for a DEA number. These are linked and Texas registration is dependent on one having a DEA Number.
  2. Contact the Department of Public Safety for an application. This can be done by:
    • Email at tppcsr@txdps.state.tx.us
    • Mail to: Department of Public Safety
      Controlled Substances Registration Section
      P.O. Box 4087
      Austin, Texas 78773-0438
    • Phone at 512/424-2188
    • When in contact, provide your name, degree, mailing address, business activity (research) and phone number.
  3. Complete and return the forms. Remember that as a state employee, you are fee exempt.
  4. The process should take about 30 days.
