1. APPLY for a DEA number. These are linked and Texas registration is dependent on one having a DEA Number.
2. Contact the Department of Public Safety for an application. This can be done by:

   Phone at 512/424-2188

   When in contact, provide your name, degree, mailing address, business activity (research) and phone number.

3. Complete and return the forms. Remember that as a state employee, you are fee exempt.
4. The process should take about 30 days.
