2007–2008 IRB MEETING DATES & DEADLINES

I M P O R T A N T

Procedures for the submission of new applications for IRB-1 and IRB-3

Do  not  wait  for  a deadline.

Submit proposals for administrative review as soon as they are ready.  The initial (draft) submission packages are due not later than 9AM on the Thursday, 33 calendar days prior to the meeting.  Two paper copies of the complete package and one electronic copy (cd/disk) are required (refer to the IRB website or call the IRB office for details).  An appointment for the administrative review can be made at the time you submit the packet, or you may request that the Office of the IRB contact you and schedule the administrative review appointment (the appointment will be scheduled within 9 working days of receipt of the protocol).  [If you want your study to be reviewed at a specific meeting, you must submit for administrative review at least 33 calendar days prior to that meeting.]

Based on feedback from the administrative review, submit your completed submission package for full Board review as soon as it is ready (but no later than 9AM of date below to improve the potential for your study being placed on the next IRB agenda).  The IRB office will review submissions to ensure all required documents/revisions are included.  Only complete protocols will be placed on the agenda.  [There are a limited number of new proposals that can be reviewed at each meeting.  The agenda for a given meeting is generally filled on a first-come first-serve basis, although other factors may be considered.  Therefore, it is important to submit as soon as the documents are ready.]

NEW FOR 2007-2008:  IRB-1 and IRB-3 can review new submissions of any specialty.  (IRB-3 is no longer limited to oncology studies.)  Both Boards require 24 packets (23 copies plus the original) and 1 electronic version (cd/disk) containing all documents that are being submitted for Board review.   [You will be provided with a list of required documents during the administrative review.]
