|
Lillian Sanchez, MSN, RN, Research Nurse in the OCR, recently received a 2009 South Texas Nurse Imagemakers award from the Texas Nurses Association (TNA) District 8 and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Delta Alpha at Large Chapter. The award ceremony was held May 30, 2009 at the Oak Hills Country Club. Ms. Sanchez is the Secretary of TNA District 8 and a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee for Texas Nurses Association. She was nominated by Gayle Dasher, PhD, RN, President, TNA District 8, because of her long history of membership and active involvement in both district and state TNA activities. Her tireless efforts to further the practice and status of nursing in the state of Texas are a tribute to her dedication and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure a better work environment for all nurses. Her service to our local district is readily apparent. As a member of the TNA Governmental Affairs Committee, she attends Nurse Day at the Capitol, visiting legislators to clarify the TNA position on nursing initiatives beneficial to health care and all Texas nurses. When nurses from out-of-state organizations arrived at our Capitol to push their agenda in Texas, it was Lillian who met with legislators, her Texas voter registration card in hand, stating, "Remember me ... I'm the Texas RN voter, not them!"
Lillian's influence and professionalism extends to her work environment. As a Research Nurse at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Lillian is challenged with translating seemingly impossible to understand guidelines into language that all can comprehend. Lillian has set the example of professionalism for all nurses through a commitment, compassion, and love for all she does. TNA District 8 is proud to be the professional home for Lillian Sanchez. Her remarkable energy and dedication is an inspiration.
