Hummingbirds are amazing. In species like this Anna, wing strokes occur at about 50 Hz. In addition, all birds, but especially these birds, live in a constant state of hyperglycemia. Image data can be used to quantify bone mass, geometry (architecture), and estimates of tissue mineral density. Given appropriate contrast, the extensiveness of the pneumatic sacs could also be assessed.
